Stories from the Billabong James Vance Marshall & Francis Firebrace (Walker Books)This is a beautiful book - ancient legends of the Yorta-Yorta people beautifully retold and accompanied by beautiful illustrations (some full page) created by one of Australia’s most wonderful Aboriginal artists.
The ten legends include the Rainbow Serpent and the Story of Creation, what makes Frogs croak, why Kangaroo has a pouch, and just what it is that makes Platypus so special. The book also includes information about Aboriginal Australians, Aboriginal symbols and their meanings and a glossary.
Both of these books are treasures and need to be part of every library!
